Puppies
Most of the time, when pups are available, they are already spoken for. Most people find that we are quite selective about who we feel is best qualified for a Brittany pup. We enjoy working with people with a specific interest in a Brittany. And of course, we prefer our Brittanys to be with active, hunting families. Most of our pups are sold via word of mouth. We discourage shopping for a random puppy of just any breed. Getting a puppy is a very important decision, and one not to be taken lightly. We enjoy the process of working with families as they wait for just the right puppy!
The first 8 weeks of a puppies life are the foundation for living the rest of their lives with people. Here's just a few of the ways we do that whenever we have the joy of a new litter of Brittany puppies:
1. Beginning at birth and depending upon a pups developmental stage we handle our Brittanys daily using the SMART puppies program.
2. At 5 weeks of age, we implement the Volhardt Puppy Aptitude Testing for each puppy.
3. They are well socialized with people and other dogs, introduced to many new experiences.
4. Pups are introduced to crate training.
5. And yes, of course! All Brittany pups are introduced to birds.
All "serious inquiries" will be asked to complete and submit a questionnaire (with references) after which time we will answer any questions, provide written information including complete pedigrees, AKC documentation, OFA and/or PennHip info, photographs, purchase contracts, prices, our policies & health warranties. We will not 'sell' a pup over the telephone or over the internet. We absolutely will not ship a puppy via air. We will meet all serious inquiries in person. No exceptions.
When available our pups are "sold" not placed or "adopted. The buyer becomes an "owner" not a "guardian". (See the AKC's position here.)
