Our beautiful Treasure is first and foremost loved and valued deeply as a pet and has a sweet, calm, and loving disposition. She lives up to her name. We see once again the powerfully strong and impressive natural, near primal inherent hunting instincts resminiscent of Treasure’s mother Wish, whose offspring and grandchildren both consistently demonstrate in actual hunting situations and/or field events. Treasure is a very polished and stylish hunter in her own right. Her grandmother (NAFC/AFC/FC Pride & Joy’s Bunch of Annie) has recently been nominated for the Brittany Field Trial Hall of Fame! Treasure is extremely stylish in the field, holds for her birds, is fairly honest, handles well, possesses a strong prey drive, and is a natural retriever with a soft mouth.
Treasure was first shown by Ann shortly after her first birthday at the Northern New England Brittanys Club Specialty show. Treasure won Best In Sweepstakes! In just a few more shows Treasure quickly acquired all 9 of her minor points. Lacking physical maturity it was decided not to continue showing her for awhile. Treasure will finish as an AKC Show Champion when she wins two “majors”, something that she has came close to doing. As she is only shown occassionally it is just a matter of time, maturity, and opportunity before Treasure does finish in the ring. All 11 championship points have been won with Ann handling Treasure in the AKC Bred By Exhibitor (BBE) Class. Usually in the ribbons in both large and small shows, several noteworthy show placements include:
-
Best in Sweepstakes
-
Several Best of Breed wins
-
Several Best Bred by Exhibitor wins
-
Many Best of Opposite Sex wins
-
Several Best of Winners wins
-
Many Reserves and placements!
Treasure’s name was created with a desire to honor the Birch Spring and Pride and Joy lines behind her. Her AKC registered name is J & A’s Dreams Come True of Acton. Her mother's name is Birch Springs Wish Upon a Star, so her daughter's name is appropriate and we do believe that DREAMS COME TRUE! Her call name, “Treasure” signifies what she means to us - and also, according to the thesaurus, captures another definition of “pride and joy”. Her call name is also from the Bible, where, in Matthew 6:19 - 21 it is written: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Also the foundational Scripture verse for J&A's Brittanys!)
Treasure is the mother of three titled AKC Junior Hunters, including our Brittany "TRUE", who has several show points and is also close to finishing his Senior Hunter title. Treasure is the mother of "BRANDY" who not only is a Junior Hunter but has a NA 108 Prize 1 Title. Grandpups of Treasure have just enjoyed their first successful bird hunting season with some being prepared to test in NAVHDA and in AKC. Additionally, two of her grandpups are being shown. Treasure's daughter "Nova" has recently been bred to Jack, for a nice line breeding on proven bird dogs. May 2013 pups are expected.
