Timber...
Many years have passed since those summer days, among the fields of barley,
See the children run, as the sun goes down, as you lie in fields of gold.
I never made promises lightly, there are some that I've broken
But I swear in the days to come we will walk in field of gold...

JULY 22, 2007

On the night before Bridget was to leave for Ohio, John and I kept a type of promise just for Timber.  We brought his pups to his nearby field of gold,  set them down and watched them freely run together one last time, on the very grounds that we trained their father in previous times.  A happy place, a warm place, a wonderful place for Brittanys to enjoy. We walked among Timber's field of gold
with the sun setting in the western sky.... And we knew Timber was indeed, right there.

We saw Timber in the playfulness of his pups,
We saw the sweet expression of Timber reflected upon the face of his babes,
We saw anew Timber's unique pointing style
in the flash puppy points of his sons and daughters.
We felt the heart, spirit, and love of Timber very much alive in our heart.
And, we always will.

Later on this same evening 4 young Brittany pups romped nearby
as the cremains of their sire, J & A's Timberdoodle of Acton
were set free into the atmosphere surrounding them.  With gentle breezes blowing
Timber was physically released to soar like an eagle and run like a wind through the woodlands
and fields that he had so loved and enjoyed once more.
Timber, my Scooby-do booger nose doodly dog -  was there,
in the places familiar and known to him  during his brief lifetime with us.  The fields
where we'd trained him, the fields where he held his first point, the fields where
we'd just lie down in the tall grasses and rest together, his head on me, my arm around him.
Just a dog... no way.   Never could be.    But, a bird dog?  YES! Absolutely the finest!
May his legacy and all that he was and continues to be
reamin through healthy, long-lived lives in:

J & A's Ridge Running Bridget  (Bridget) - loved and learning to hunt in Ohio.
J & A's Maggie - happy in Westbrook, Maine in a home with other Brittanys.
J & A's Forrest Run of Acton (Forrest) -  loved on Penobscott Bay by a hunting family.
J & A's Soaring White Sequoia of Acton (Scooby) - created to give and receive as much love as our hearts can hold while running through our daily lives and reminding us that God has a plan and a purpose for everything in His own time, that all things happen for a reason...
and that is what we believe!
